Bowdoin Says No Need for SAT While Buying College Board Scores – Bloomberg

Bowdoin Says No Need for SAT While Buying College Board Scores – Bloomberg.

Our take: We disagree with the “conflict of interest” this author identified. College admissions offices must manage the business of enrollment. In particular, small private schools with limited endowments rely on tuition for operational costs. We’re not surprised that most colleges find value in the College Board’s suite of enrollment planning tools and services. Student Search Service can be used to target high scoring students, but it can also help college admission offices cast a diverse recruitment net and communicate with students from backgrounds that are traditionally underrepresented on campus. The decision to use factors other than the SAT or ACT to make admission decisions while managing targeted recruitment using College Board tools is not tantamount to student duping.

What do you think? Is it a conflict of interest?
